A tree for Rwanda is a non-profit association based in Zurich, Switzerland. The association’s sole goal is to provide financial support to the Nyamirambo Women's Centre (NWC) in Kigali, Rwanda. The association is organizing individual fundraising events for and to groups, individuals and corporates.
Nyamirambo Women's Center, a Rwandan NGO, was launched in 2007 by 18 women living in Nyamirambo, Kigali. Together they created a project which aimed to address gender-based violence, gender inequality and discrimination. Problems faced today by many Rwandan women, NWC's mission today is to provide education and training to disadvantaged women so that they can gain better opportunities for employment.
Some of NWC's women are employed as domestic workers, manual labour in small businesses, and hairdressers, while some of them are students or unemployed. The NWC is a diverse and heterogeneous group bringing together socially de-privileged and marginalized, hard working women (mothers) and girls from different social, cultural and religious backgrounds.
To fulfill its mandate, NWC offers to the community different activites, such as free classes in literacy, English, basic computer skills, handicrafts and sewing, empowerment trainings on gender based violence and trainings on community based tourism.
At the moment NWC has no other supporting association. This is why NWC's needs our help!

A Tree for Rwanda was founded in June 2014 with the sole and only goal to not only keep the dreams of those women alive but also to be able to support more women and their families, to enable access to education, building capacities and practical skills training for deprivileged groups of women, to enable access to books and introduce the reading culture (which is the basis for successful learning) to the local population, especially children and youth, and to raise awareness about women’s rights and gender equality at the local level and to empower the most vulnerable women
